Frequently asked questions
Everything about trading with our bots, prices and keeping your items safe.
What is trade-crates.tf?
An automated shop for Team Fortress 2 crates, cases and keys. Our bots buy and sell instantly at prices shown upfront, through the official Steam trade offer system.
How does a trade work?
Pick what you give from your inventory and what you want from bot stock. Once both sides are equal (the “Balance” button fills the gap with metal or keys), send the trade. A bot sends you a Steam trade offer within seconds and you accept it there.
What is the verification code?
Every trade gets a unique code, shown on the site and written in the Steam offer message. Only accept the offer that carries your exact code — that's how you avoid impersonator bots.
Is it safe?
You only sign in through the official Steam login; your password and Steam Guard codes never reach us. You confirm every trade yourself in Steam, after seeing exactly what you get.
Where do I find my trade URL?
In Steam → Inventory → Trade Offers → “Who can send me Trade Offers?”. You only need to save it once in your profile.
Why does my inventory need to be public?
So we can show your TF2 items and verify they exist before creating the offer.
How are prices set?
Prices follow backpack.tf community prices and refresh automatically. “You buy at” is what the bot sells for, “You sell at” is what we pay you per item. The spread between them is our only income — there are no hidden fees.
What does “stock full” mean?
Every item has a stock limit. Once the bots reach it, we stop buying that item until some of it sells.
Why did my trade fail?
Most common reasons: a trade hold on your account (you need Steam Guard Mobile active for 7 days), an item moved out of your inventory in the meantime, the offer not accepted in time (offers expire after a few minutes), or Steam being down.
Can I run several trades at once?
One active trade at a time. Once it completes or expires you can start the next one.
